What We've Done

A summary of the accessibility features built into this site.

Our Commitment

Tread & Wag is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that every dog owner — regardless of ability — deserves equal access to our services, pricing information, and resources. We are actively working to align our site with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

Keyboard Navigation

Our site is fully navigable by keyboard. You can move through all interactive elements — navigation links, buttons, forms, and accordions — using the Tab key. A visible focus indicator highlights the active element at all times. A "Skip to main content" link appears at the top of every page when you begin tabbing.

Screen Reader Support

We use semantic HTML elements (nav, main, section, footer, h1–h3) and ARIA roles and labels throughout the site to support screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver. Decorative images and icons are marked as hidden from assistive technology. All informational images have descriptive alt text.

Color & Contrast

We have designed our site with sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds to meet WCAG AA standards. We do not rely on color alone to convey information. Our forms include text labels and error messages that do not depend on visual cues alone.

Forms & Interactive Elements

All form fields are associated with visible labels. Required fields are clearly identified. Error messages are descriptive and delivered via ARIA live regions so they are announced by screen readers. Modals and dialogs use focus trapping and ARIA dialog roles to keep keyboard focus within the overlay.

Motion & Animation

We respect the prefers-reduced-motion browser setting. If you have enabled reduced motion in your operating system preferences, animations and transitions on our site will be minimized or disabled automatically.

Known Limitations

We're transparent about areas still being improved.

  • Third-party embedded content

Some content loaded from external platforms (e.g. social media embeds) may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We have limited control over third-party code.

  • Legacy PDF documents

Any PDF files or downloadable resources may not be fully tagged for screen reader compatibility. We are working to remediate these.

  • Complex interactive components

Some advanced interactive elements such as carousels and image galleries may have limited keyboard or screen reader support. We are actively improving these.
